Tehran vows heavy response to US

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has responded to Donald Trump's statements. He said Tehran's response to aggression will be severe.

Admiral Ali Shamkhani, a senior adviser to Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, also strongly condemned the new US threats of a military strike against the country, promising a crushing response to any possible aggression.

"According to Iran's defense doctrine, responses to threats are planned before they are implemented," Shamkhani said.

He stressed that the country's missile and defense capabilities cannot be restrained or depend on permits.

"Any aggression against Iran will be met with an immediate, severe response that exceeds the imagination of the planners," Shamkhani warned.

His comments came after US President Donald Trump said he would support an Israeli strike against Iran if Tehran continued its ballistic missile and nuclear programs: "Now I hear that Iran is trying to build again, and if they do, we will have to destroy them. We will destroy them."
