We have excellent relations with Armenia: Iranian Foreign Ministry

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Ismail Baghai responded to a Sputnik correspondent's question about Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's statement that he would support the development of relations between Tehran and Yerevan and sign a document on strategic partnership with Iran. The ISNA agency reported this.

The formulation of the question is particularly noteworthy, which we present below: "Considering that Armenia signed a strategic partnership agreement with the United States and then the European Union in 2025 and partially withdrew from the Collective Security Treaty Organization, as well as taking into account Iran's problems with the European Union and the United States in the area of sanctions, is Iran ready to sign a strategic partnership agreement with Armenia, similar to its agreements with Russia and China?"

In response, Baghai stated:

"Iran regulates its relations based on national interests, and relations with Armenia are no exception to this rule. Our relations with Armenia are based on a clear understanding of our mutual interests, challenges, and commonalities. "We have excellent relations with this country and are determined to continue these relations in various fields," he stressed.

Baghai also stressed that Iran respects countries' relations with other parties, provided those relations do not harm Iran's interests.

"Our relations with other countries are formed based on a thorough analysis of mutual interests and problems, and our relations with Armenia and other neighboring countries are regulated on that basis," he added.
