Zaluzhny is preparing to leave London

Radio NV, citing four sources in political and diplomatic circles, reported that Valery Zaluzhny, Ukraine’s ambassador to the United Kingdom and former commander-in-chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, plans to leave his diplomatic post in early January 2026.

“He and the president discussed various positions for Zaluzhny, from prime minister to chief of staff, but he has not shown any interest at that time,” the sources said.

NV’s sources also reported that Zaluzhny is considering the post of ambassador to the United States or commander-in-chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, but no decisions have been made yet.

“Zaluzhny probably wants to return to Kiev; he may announce this as early as January 4-5 next year, if nothing influences his decision,” one of the sources said.
