We need to hurry, there are only 1-2 difficult questions left. Trump

After meeting with Volodymyr Zelensky, US President Donald Trump announced that the two sides are “significantly closer, maybe very close” to an agreement to end the war in Ukraine. At the same time, he acknowledged that the fate of the disputed Donbas region remains the central unresolved issue.

Trump noted that the success of the negotiations will become clear “in a few weeks, emphasizing the presence of difficult territorial issues. “We had a wonderful meeting with Zelensky. We are very close to an agreement. There are only 1-2 complicated issues left unresolved,” the US president said.

According to him, territorial issues are the most serious. Trump stressed that Ukraine must approve any settlement through parliament or a referendum. “We need to hurry to reach an agreement, Ukraine may lose more territory in the coming months,” he added.

Trump also indicated that he is ready to go to Ukraine and speak in the Rada. “I am ready to come to Ukraine and appeal to the parliament if it will help to conclude a deal,” he said.

Zelensky, in turn, announced that an agreement had been reached on security guarantees for Ukraine. “90% of the 20-point agreement has been agreed upon. The issue of security guarantees for Ukraine has been agreed on 100%,” the Ukrainian president said, emphasizing that any peace agreement must be approved by parliament or a referendum.

Speaking about Donbas, Zelensky said: “You know our position: we must respect the Constitution of Ukraine and our territorial integrity.”
