Russia is committed to Syria's sovereignty, territorial integrity, and independence, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said.
"The main significance of this visit (of Syrian interim President Ahmed al-Sharaa to Moscow) is that Russia has unequivocally reaffirmed its commitment to the sovereignty, territorial integrity and independence of the Syrian Arab Republic," Lavrov said during talks with his Syrian counterpart.
Russian-Syrian relations are entering a new phase, Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad Hassan al-Shaibani said.
"Today, Russian-Syrian relations are entering a new phase. Last year was significant for Syria, especially because it marked the end of a 14-year war," the diplomat said.
