US President Donald Trump's special envoy Steve Witkoff described the two-day talks with the Russian delegation in Miami as "productive and constructive." Donald Trump's son-in-law, Jared Kushner, and administration spokesman Josh Greenbaum also participated in the talks on the American side.
Witkoff wrote on the X social network: "Russia remains committed to achieving peace in Ukraine. Russia highly appreciates the efforts and support of the United States in resolving the Ukrainian conflict and restoring global security."
The Kremlin's special envoy Kirill Dmitriev, who also participated in the talks, also expressed a similar position.
However, the parties did not disclose the details of the talks.
The Russian-American meeting in Miami was preceded by three days of talks between US and Ukrainian representatives. According to Witkoff, Kiev remains committed to achieving peace. He said that four documents were discussed with Ukrainian representatives, including a 20-point peace plan, a U.S. security guarantee for Ukraine, and a plan for Ukraine's further economic development.
According to Witkoff, the primary focus of the negotiations was on "timelines" and the "sequence of next steps."
"Peace should become not only a cessation of hostilities, but also a dignified basis for a stable future," he noted.
