The United States has approved a major arms deal with Taiwan. It includes medium-range missiles, howitzers, and drones.
The State Department announced the arms sales on Wednesday night, following President Donald Trump's speech.
Trump made little mention of foreign policy in his speech and said nothing about trade or other issues related to China.
The eight arms sales include 82 high-mobility missile systems and 420 tactical missile systems. These are similar to the systems the United States sold to Ukraine during the Biden administration.
The systems are worth more than $4 billion.
