US Senate approves $900 billion defense budget for 2026

The upper house of the US Congress on Wednesday approved the 2026 defense budget bill, according to American media reports. The bill was voted in favor of by 77 senators, with 20 against.

Now, US President Donald Trump must sign the bill. The US House of Representatives approved the bill last week.

According to the bill, which runs to more than 3,000 pages, the 2026 defense budget will total $900 billion. The bill, in particular, provides for $400 million in military aid to Kiev.

Moreover, the document provides for increases in military salaries, restrictions on US investments in China, and the lifting of sanctions against Syria.
