We are ready to consult on the parameters of the "Trump Road"—Russian Foreign Ministry representative
The Russian side is ready to consult with Yerevan on the parameters of the Trump Road initiative and Russia's possible participation, Mikhail Kalugin, director of the Fourth Department of the Russian Foreign Ministry for the CIS countries, told RIA Novosti.
"The details of the Armenian-American project still need to be studied. We are ready to consult with our Armenian colleagues to discuss both the parameters of the initiative and Russia's possible participation," he said.
Kalugin added that there are sufficient grounds for this. According to him, the Russian side is considering a section of the route agreed upon within the framework of the trilateral working group.
"Our company, South Caucasus Railways, which is a subsidiary of Russian Railways, has a concession to manage Armenia's railway network. The region uses Russian railway lines," Kalugin noted.
He also noted that the "road" will largely pass through the territory of responsibility of Russian border guards."
"We must also take into account Armenia's membership in the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU). Our partners cannot do without Russia," he concluded.
