After three years and eight months, Russia has captured only 23% of the Donetsk region. According to the Deep State, it will take at least another three years to retake it completely.
Analysts write that approximately 22.6% remains under the control of the Ukrainian defense forces; the rest was captured before the full-scale invasion.
The main Russian advance occurred in the first weeks of 2022, following the blockade of Mariupol and the collapse of the defense in the south. Then the pace slowed down sharply. Despite constant attacks, the advance remains extremely slow, resulting in heavy losses.
