Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev expects the peace treaty between Armenia and Azerbaijan to be signed as soon as possible.
The signing of the declaration between the two countries in August is of historic significance and opens broad prospects for multilateral cooperation in the South Caucasus and beyond, the Kazakh president said at the "International Year of Peace and Trust 2025" forum in Ashgabat.
"In our opinion, the signing of the joint peace declaration by Azerbaijan and Armenia is of historic significance, which opens up broad prospects for multilateral cooperation in the region and beyond. We hope for the speedy conclusion of a comprehensive peace treaty that guarantees stability in the South Caucasus," Tokayev said.
The Kazakh president expressed hope that Baku and Yerevan will sign a final peace agreement in the near future.
He also said that Kazakhstan welcomes the signing of a peace agreement on the situation in the Middle East. The republic's decision to join the Abraham Accords, Tokayev emphasized, is driven by the desire to make a significant contribution to stabilizing and strengthening peace in the region.
