Remarkable visit: Russian-Indian military-industrial issues discussed

Reuters reported that a group of Indian defense industry executives, including Adani Defence and Bharat Forge, met in Moscow to discuss possible joint ventures with Russia.

The meetings were the first visit by Indian defense industry leaders since Russia's invasion of Ukraine. The visit had not been previously reported.

The Indian government is seeking to reshape decades-old ties with Russia, focusing on joint arms development.

Any cooperation with Russia could hamper Prime Minister Narendra Modi's plans to turn India, one of the world's largest arms importers, into a global manufacturing hub and jointly develop Western weapons.

The meetings were held as part of an Indian delegation's visit to Moscow on October 29-30. The delegation was led by India's Defense Production Secretary Sanjiv Kumar.

The press services of Adani Group and Bharat Forge denied that their company executives attended the meetings. The Indian Ministry of Defense and the other companies mentioned did not respond to requests for comment.
