Europe reacts harshly to new US strategy

European Council President Antonio Costa has rejected any attempt by the United States to interfere in European politics. Washington has published a new security strategy that is highly critical of the continent's policies.

"Threats of interference in European politics are unacceptable," Costa said at a conference in Brussels.

According to him, the United States cannot replace European citizens by choosing which parties are good and which are bad.

Costa stressed that Russia's welcome of Washington's new views is a worrying sign.
