Azerbaijan hopes to sign a peace agreement with Armenia next year, Elchin Amirbekov, the special representative of the Azerbaijani president, said on Thursday.
"This is a historic year. The 30-year conflict has finally ended, and we are close to formalizing peace. The summit in Washington in August allowed us to confirm both sides' intention to adhere to the peace agreement and to turn the page on the past and begin a new stage of regional development.
We have finalized the peace agreement. Next year is also important: we hope to formalize the peace agreement with Armenia," Amirbekov told reporters in Geneva.
