French President Emmanuel Macron has arrived in China for a three-day state visit to meet with Xi Jinping.
The country’s massive trade deficit (more than 300 billion euros in China’s favor), Beijing’s support for Russia in the war in Ukraine, and human rights issues will be the main topics of discussion, to be held behind closed doors.
Macron will be accompanied by six ministers and 35 prominent business leaders to sign new agreements and reduce the deficit. France hopes that China will use its influence with Putin to achieve a ceasefire in Ukraine.
