US Secretary of State Marco Rubio told Fox News that Ukraine and Russia are currently literally fighting over 30-50 square kilometers of territory, which is 20% of the Donetsk region.
“They are currently fighting over approximately 30-50 square kilometers of territory and the remaining 20% of the DPR (under Ukrainian control). We have tried to do, and I think we have made some progress, to figure out what the Ukrainians can live with, what will ensure their security in the future,” the Secretary of State said in an interview with Fox News.
He also stated that theoretically, if the proper steps are taken, Ukraine’s GDP could exceed Russia’s GDP within 10 years. He also made several statements, which we present below.
- The Russians are losing 7,000 soldiers every week. We think now is the ideal time to stop the war.
- We are trying to build a bridge between the two sides, and to do so, we need to talk to both.
- Some people think that our policy should be to provide unlimited funding to Ukraine while the war continues, but that is unrealistic.
- The Ukrainians have achieved enormous success through their courage and tenacity in battle.
- The decision on the Russian side should be made by Putin alone, not his advisers. Putin, only Putin, can end this war on the Russian side.
