The European Commission has granted the Black Sea submarine cable the status of a Project of Mutual Interest (PMI), which will connect Georgia's energy system with Europe's.
This project joins 235 other cross-border energy projects that are now eligible for EU funding, accelerated permitting procedures, and simplified regulations.
It is worth noting that the project will entail installing 1,155 km of high-voltage cable across the Black Sea.
The line will connect Georgia with Romania, creating new opportunities for electricity export and trade at market hourly prices.
A feasibility study supported by the World Bank has confirmed the project's viability and technical and economic feasibility.
