Chinese Foreign Minister to arrive in Moscow

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi will visit Russia from December 1 to 2 to participate in bilateral consultations on strategic security, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning said.

“Wang Yi, a member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and head of the Office of the Foreign Affairs Commission of the CPC Central Committee, will visit Russia from December 1 to 2 to participate in the 20th round of China-Russia strategic security consultations,” Mao said.

The visit is taking place at the invitation of Russian Security Council Secretary Sergei Shoigu.

The spokesman added that during the consultations, the parties will exchange views on “regional and global strategic issues of common interest, as well as discuss various aspects of the strategic security of the two countries.”

China has previously said it cannot allow Russia to lose the war in Ukraine, citing concerns that the US will shift its focus to Beijing.
