Court orders Bolsonaro to begin serving 27 years in prison

Brazilian Supreme Court Judge Alexandre de Moraes ruled on November 25 that former President Jair Bolsonaro (70) must immediately begin serving a 27-year, three-month prison sentence on charges of organizing a coup and holding on to power by force after his defeat in the 2022 presidential election.

The court said the case had exhausted all appeals.

The former president will serve his sentence in a Brazilian federal police prison.
