Ukraine agrees to Trump's proposed peace deal

A U.S. official told CBS News that the Ukrainian government has agreed to a peace deal brokered by the Trump administration to end Russia’s nearly four-year war.

Ukraine’s National Security Secretary Rustem Umerov confirmed that there was general agreement on the basic terms, but details were still being worked out. He expressed hope that Zelensky would visit Washington in late November to finalize the deal.

U.S. Army Secretary Dan Driscoll held hours of talks with Russian officials in Abu Dhabi. The U.S. side is “very optimistic” and is waiting for Moscow’s response.

Russia has not yet responded. Lavrov said only that Moscow “appreciates the U.S. initiative” but will not release information until a formal agreement is reached.
