Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that several formulations in Donald Trump's plan need clarification.
"Those who are trying to organize a fuss over the Ukraine issue want to undermine Trump's efforts and reinterpret it in their own way," Lavrov noted.
"The West has consistently thwarted the progress made in Ukraine," he said.
The Russian Foreign Minister stressed that Europe "has failed in every way."
"You had your opportunities, but you wasted them and did not use them," Lavrov noted.
He also spoke about possible mediation platforms in the settlement process.
"We see countries that can play a constructive role as mediators. Among them are Belarus and Turkey, as Russian President Vladimir Putin recently discussed with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who is also interested in contributing to the creation of a platform. "It was not us who rejected the Istanbul platform, it was the Ukrainians who rejected it," Lavrov said.
