U.S. Army Secretary Dan Driscoll will meet with Russian officials in Abu Dhabi to present a revised peace plan developed in recent U.S.-Ukraine talks. Neither Secretary of State Marco Rubio nor other U.S. negotiators will be attending the meeting, making the process more complex and sensitive.
Driscoll will provide Moscow with a reduced version of the original 28-point peace plan, which has been stripped of about 19 points, including the most problematic provisions, such as recognition of Russian control over Donbass. Those issues have been left for discussion between President Trump and President Zelensky.
The Trump administration has said that its team has been working together for the past ten months to achieve a “sustainable and manageable” peace.
