The Trump administration has publicly acknowledged for the first time that Elon Musk’s DOGE has been shut down.
The Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), headed by businessman Elon Musk, was shut down eight months before the end of its term, Reuters reports, citing Scott Cooper, director of the Department of Personnel.
“It doesn’t exist,” Cooper said when asked about the situation surrounding DOGE. He added that it is no longer a “centralized entity.”
According to Reuters, many of DOGE’s functions have been taken over by the Department of Personnel (the federal government’s human resources department).
