According to the American Politico, European and Ukrainian officials have rejected Donald Trump’s new peace proposal, describing it as “Putin’s wish list” and disproportionately favoring Moscow.
European capitals have also been upset that they were left out of the process of developing the proposal. Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sibiga told European counterparts that the terms of the initiative are “clearly dictated by Russia” and cannot bring lasting peace.
European diplomats and officials are concerned that Washington is trying to force a “bad deal” on Kiev, especially at a time when Ukraine is under pressure both on the battlefield and amid domestic scandals. Politico writes that the proposal has been widely perceived as unsuccessful and unfair, intensifying European dissatisfaction with the US steps.
