Volodymyr Zelensky, commenting on the United States' peace plan, stated that the Ukrainian side will not rush to make sharp statements and is focused on clear, honest work.
"Today I had a meeting with US representatives: a very serious delegation and a critical conversation. The American side presented its proposals, the plan's points to stop the war, and its vision. We have had one apparent position from the very first day of the war. Ukraine needs peace—real peace that will prevent a third invasion. A dignified peace, with respect for our independence, sovereignty, and the dignity of the Ukrainian people," Zelensky wrote.
He emphasized that such conditions must be ensured.
"I have indicated what is fundamental for us. We have agreed that the teams will work on these proposals to turn them into reality. We will not make sharp statements and are focused on clear, honest work: Ukraine, the United States, and our partners in Europe and the world," he added.
Zelensky recalled that in recent days he had many conversations with European leaders and expects to speak with President Trump in the near future.
"We understand that America's strength and support can really bring peace closer, and we do not want to lose that. At the same time, we also understand that Russia has no real desire for peace; otherwise, it would not have started this war. There are many assessments, quite fair, that Russia has been trying for one thing all year - to postpone sanctions and buy time for war," Zelensky explained.
He is convinced that the United States has the power to force Russia to finally take the cessation of hostilities seriously.
"That is why I will continue to work 100 percent, devoting all my time to this. "Ukraine needs peace, and Ukraine will do everything so that no one in the world can say that we are obstructing diplomacy. This is important," he emphasized.
