A group of senior US Defense Department (Pentagon) officials, led by Army Secretary Dan Driscoll, has arrived in Kiev to “discuss efforts to end the war.” The team is scheduled to meet with President Volodymyr Zelensky, the BBC reports.
The visit comes after reports emerged of a new peace plan being developed by the US and Russia.
The arrival of Driscoll’s team is the highest-ranking official visit to the country by a military official since Trump took office. Ukrainian Defense Minister Denys Shmyhal said after the meeting that the discussions focused on the following steps to implement “historic defense agreements.”
