Football superstar Cristiano Ronaldo attended a state dinner at the White House yesterday, where US President Donald Trump hosted Saudi Arabia's Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.
During his speech, Trump also touched on Ronaldo's reception and addressed the Portuguese footballer.
"My son is a big fan of Ronaldo. And Barron (Trump's son) met him, and I think he respects his father a little more now, just for the fact that I introduced you," Trump said.
Trump had earlier said that it was an honor to host Ronaldo.
Ronaldo's role in the meeting is emphasized, as the footballer, who plays for the Saudi club Al Nasr, symbolizes the connection between sports and diplomacy.
He also met with FIFA President Gianni Infantino, as Trump has recently been actively involved in the 2026 World Cup bid by organizing the World Cup (which will be held in the United States, Canada, and Mexico).
