Normalization of relations with Armenia and the opening of the border are essential for Turkey. Fidan

Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan has stated that Ankara has repeatedly expressed its policy of normalizing relations with Armenia. The Turkish state Anadolu Agency reports this.

“We are ready to normalize relations with Armenia when Azerbaijan and Armenia sign a final peace agreement,” he said.

According to Fidan, they announced this in advance.

He noted that normalization of relations between Turkey and Armenia, opening the border, and restoring the economy are essential for them to.

However, Fidan also emphasized that normalization of relations with Turkey is a lever against Armenia to achieve complete peace in the region.

“If we normalize relations with Armenia now, we will eliminate the main reason why Armenia should sign a peace agreement with Azerbaijan. Therefore, there is a possibility of a frozen conflict in the region. We do not want that,” Fidan emphasized.

The Turkish Foreign Minister emphasized that two issues are not discussed in the Washington agreements: the Zangezur corridor and certain matters related to the Armenian constitution. He noted that when these issues are resolved and the final deal is signed, Turkey will open its borders with Armenia.
