Iran cancels visa-free regime with India

The Iranian government has announced the cancellation of the visa-free regime with India, effective November 22, according to reports by India Today. From now on, Indian citizens will require a visa for both visiting Iran and for transit.

The Indian Ministry of External Affairs said that the reason is the increase in the number of crimes against Indian citizens.

Criminal elements have been luring Indians to Iran, promising to help with employment, but as a result, they have kidnapped them and demanded a ransom.

From now on, all airlines will be required to verify the presence of visas for passengers traveling to Iran, including those in transit.
