US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has said that having a ticket to the 2026 World Cup does not automatically entitle you to a tourist visa.
The US State Department has said that foreign nationals with World Cup tickets can be interviewed at an embassy or consulate within six to eight weeks of submitting their application.
“Your ticket is not a visa. It does not guarantee entry into the United States. We will undergo the same vetting process as anyone else. The only difference is that we are moving them up the queue,” Rubio said.
US President Donald Trump has said that US embassies will prioritize visas for those who have tickets to the 2026 World Cup.
