Last week, Republican leaders had predicted that their ranks would essentially vote in favor of releasing the documents. Now, with the president’s support, the Republican Party’s vote is likely to increase.
Speaker Mike Johnson, who has long opposed a vote, told reporters on Monday that he might vote in favor if the Senate later makes changes to protect the privacy of victims and whistleblowers better.
