Poland to open border crossings with Belarus

Poland plans to open two closed border crossings with Belarus on November 17: Bobrovniki (Berestowica) and Kuznica (Brużgi).

This follows from a draft decision submitted by the Ministry of the Interior, the Polish PAP agency reported.

Kuznica will be open only for passenger cars. Bobrovniki will be open for passenger cars, buses, and some trucks, but only for those registered in the EU, the EAEU countries, and Switzerland.

The authorities explain that this step is necessary to restore the movement of people and goods. Entrepreneurs, transporters, and migrant workers have long demanded this.

Currently, only Terespol (Brest) is open for cars, and Kukuriki (Kozlovichi) is open for trucks.

Prime Minister Donald Tusk previously announced the decision to open the new checkpoints, but it was postponed after Lithuania extended its border closure due to balloon smuggling.
