Russia is in favor of moving the sessions of the international discussion format on security issues in the Transcaucasus from Switzerland to another, “truly neutral place,” the Russian Foreign Ministry announced.
“Given the loss of neutral status declared by Switzerland due to compliance with illegal anti-Russian sanctions by the EU, Moscow, with the support of Sukhumi and Tskhinvali, believes that it is necessary to move the ICG meetings from Geneva to another, truly neutral place that would be acceptable to all participants,” the ministry said in a statement.
As emphasized by the Russian Foreign Ministry, Russia supports the early adoption of an agreement on the non-use of force between Georgia, Abkhazia, and South Ossetia. It is noted that the next round of discussions will take place in March 2026.
