Russia is recruiting reservists to protect essential facilities

According to media reports, Russia has begun recruiting volunteers to defend against drone attacks.

Kommersant writes that a recruitment campaign has begun in Russian regions for units to be deployed to protect critical facilities.

The newspaper reports that a law was signed on November 4, allowing the use of reservists for such purposes, not only in times of war.

According to Kommersant, “relevant work is already underway in two dozen regions of the Russian Federation.”

The newspaper notes that during this period, reservists, who will be deployed mainly to combat drones, will receive military status with all the corresponding privileges.

The authorities of the Leningrad region were among the first to announce the creation of the BARS-47 unit. Recruitment is also underway in Tatarstan, Bashkortostan, the Nizhny Novgorod region, and other areas. Among the objects to be protected from drones are the Bashneft oil refinery and the industrial facilities of Ufaneftekhim and Gazprom.
