Gunvor refuses to buy Lukoil assets after tough US stance

Gunvor, an international oil trader registered in Cyprus, has rejected an offer to acquire the foreign assets of Russian oil giant Lukoil. The decision was announced on November 6 on the company’s X social media page.

Gunvor representatives announced the decision about an hour after the US Treasury Department announced Gunvor’s ties to Russia and refused to issue a license to the company until the war in Ukraine ended.

“President Trump has made it clear that the war must end immediately. As long as Putin continues his senseless killings, Kremlin puppet Gunvor will never receive a license to operate and the opportunity to make a profit,” the US Treasury Department’s X publication said.
