Lavrov has lost Putin's trust

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has reportedly lost the trust of President Vladimir Putin, according to The Moscow Times.

According to the newspaper, the reason was an unsuccessful telephone conversation with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, after which the Putin-Trump meeting failed.

According to the publication, this did not please the president, and as a result, the 76-year-old Lavrov, who had been Foreign Minister for almost 20 years, did not attend the crucial meeting on November 5. The meeting of the permanent members of the Security Council was dedicated to the resumption of nuclear tests. Lavrov was the only permanent member who was absent.

Additionally, Lavrov lost the position of head of the Russian delegation to the G20 summit. Maxim Oreshkin will now head the delegation. Previously, when Putin was unable to attend international meetings due to an arrest warrant, Lavrov led the delegation. This time, Putin preferred Oreshkin's candidacy.
