Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán stated in an interview with the newspaper Magyar Nemzet that Russia and the United States only need to resolve one or two issues to agree on their positions regarding the Ukraine conflict and hold a meeting between Presidents Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump in Budapest.
He said that the summit in Budapest could take place any day now.
“There are several unresolved issues in the US-Russia talks. If they are resolved, the Budapest peace summit could take place within a few days, and then, with the agreement of the parties, a ceasefire and the establishment of peace could be achieved,” he said.
According to Orbán, there would be no need for a Hungarian peacekeeping mission if the Central European states understood that there was no solution to this war.
