Poland aims to become a hub for liquefied natural gas (LNG) from the United States, providing additional supplies to Ukraine and Slovakia. Work is currently underway on a corresponding agreement.
It is noted that Polish President Karol Nawrocki recalled during his visit to Bratislava that Poland already has the Świnoujście terminal and an interconnector, and the construction of a floating terminal in the Baltic Sea will soon be completed.
He emphasized that the countries of Central and Eastern Europe must become completely independent of Russian gas supplies.
According to Reuters, representatives of the United States and Poland plan to jointly announce an increase in LNG imports after a meeting of the Transatlantic Energy Forum in Athens later this week.
At the same time, the potential volumes of American LNG supplies to Slovakia could amount to 4-5 billion cubic meters of gas per year, which is approximately equal to Slovakia's annual gas consumption.
