The President of the Bundestag, Julia Klöckner, has issued a strong statement calling for a complete ban on prostitution in Germany. According to her, the country has turned into the “brothel of Europe” and current laws “do not protect women, but leave them in a state of violence and dependence.”
Klöckner proposes applying the “Nordic model,” as in Sweden and Norway: punishment for clients and pimps, and assistance for women who want to leave this industry.
“To say that prostitution is a normal profession is to disrespect women. There is no student internship in this profession,” she emphasized.
