The Georgian Foreign Ministry has responded to the publication of the European Commission’s report on EU enlargement, noting that the report unilaterally assesses several events related to Georgia.
The ministry’s statement notes that the steps and statements made by EU institutions towards Georgia, which aim to influence the country’s internal political processes, are of concern, as they contradict the spirit underlying Georgia-EU relations.
“We condemn any attempt to turn the issue of EU membership into a political tool. This approach harms Georgia-EU relations.
Georgia is committed to the agreements concluded with the EU and continues to fulfill in good faith the obligations assumed under the Association Agreement to ensure the country’s approach to European standards in the EU integration process,” the statement says.
