Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze met with Chinese Premier Li Keqiang.
The fruitful cooperation in trade, economy, tourism, and technology was noted. The parties paid attention to the collaboration within the framework of the "One Belt, One Road" initiative and the importance of developing the Middle Corridor.
The Georgian Prime Minister thanked the Premier of the State Council of China for his support of Georgia's territorial integrity and sovereignty, and reaffirmed the Georgian government's commitment to the "One China" principle.
"Georgian-Chinese relations are developing steadily, based on the principles of mutual respect, equality, and cooperation. We sincerely appreciate China's strong support for Georgia's sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as its unwavering commitment to non-recognition of Georgia's occupied territories. Georgia supports the "One China" principle and China's territorial integrity. This friendship and mutual understanding are naturally reflected in the dynamic economic cooperation between our countries. China is one of Georgia's four largest trading partners. Thanks to the free trade agreement, bilateral trade has increased significantly. Exports from Georgia to China have increased significantly. The growing volume of cargo transportation is also a welcome development. Between January and August 2025, the number of containers transported from China to China via the Middle Corridor through Georgia increased by 70.6% compared to the same period last year. We are ready to deepen cooperation to further increase transport flows between China and Europe through Georgia. Based on these achievements, the investment sector remains a key direction with significant potential. In the first two quarters of 2025, investments from China to Georgia amounted to 7.43 million US dollars, which is 229% more than in the same period last year," Irakli Kobakhidze said.
The Prime Minister of the People's Republic of China emphasized the importance of Georgia's participation in the International Import Expo and expressed his readiness to deepen bilateral cooperation in various areas further.
"I express my gratitude for participating in the International Import Expo. Georgia is participating in the exhibition for the first time as an honored guest, presenting a unique opportunity to showcase Georgian products. I am confident that Georgian companies will soon see the results of their participation in the exhibition. In recent years, thanks to the strategic leadership of the leaders of Georgia and China, bilateral relations have been developing intensively. In 2023, our countries established a strategic partnership, and since then, mutually beneficial cooperation in various fields has continued to deepen. China is grateful to Georgia for its sincere friendship. We are willing to strengthen strategic ties with Georgia, expand practical cooperation, and bring greater benefits to our peoples through joint efforts, "said Li Keqiang.
