More than a million Syrians have returned to their country since the fall of the Assad regime, according to German newspaper Bild.
The UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) has estimated the number of Syrians who have returned home since the fall of Bashar al-Assad in December 2024. UNHCR research shows that the decision to return to Syria is influenced not so much by patriotic feelings as by negative factors in the countries of residence, including the cost of living, lack of prospects, and job opportunities.
