Russian Ambassador to Italy Summoned to Foreign Ministry After Zakharova's Statement

Russian Ambassador to Italy Alexei Paramonov was summoned to the Foreign Ministry after comments by Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Maria Zakharova regarding the collapse of the Conti Tower in Rome, Ansa news agency reported.

Zakharova wrote on her Telegram channel that as long as the Italian government wastes taxpayers’ money to support Ukraine, Italy will collapse completely, from the economy to the towers.

This statement provoked a sharp reaction from the Italian authorities.

Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani called Zakharova’s comments “indecent.”

He noted that it is unacceptable to exploit the grief of the victims and their families during a disaster.

Recall that one person died as a result of the collapse of a medieval tower in the center of Rome.
