China has criticized the Netherlands, accusing it of creating “chaos and instability” in the global microchip market. The announcement follows the Dutch takeover of Nexperia.
The Dutch government last month decided to take control of Nexperia, citing concerns that its technology could be transferred to the company’s Chinese parent, Wingtech.
Nexperia produces large quantities of key microchips for the electronics industry. The dispute over control has disrupted supply chains and caused concern among automakers worldwide.
China’s Ministry of Commerce has urged the Netherlands to refrain from interfering in the internal affairs of companies and to seek a constructive solution.
European Commissioner for Trade Maroš Šefčovič stated that there has been progress in resolving the situation, which is crucial for restoring semiconductor supply chains.
