Iraq and Turkey to sign historic water resources management agreement

Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, in a joint press conference with Iraqi Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein, emphasized the close cooperation between the two countries in all areas.

Fidan said that the parties will sign an agreement on water resources management, which will pave the way for the long-term modernization of Iraq's water systems.

"This will be the largest infrastructure initiative in the country's history. Together, we will solve one of the main challenges so that future generations do not face the difficulties that past generations have endured," Fidan stressed.

The Turkish Foreign Minister also announced that Ankara and Baghdad will intensify cooperation in the energy sector. He noted the resumption of the oil pipeline and stressed that negotiations are underway on joint projects in the gas and electricity sectors.

Fuad Hussein stressed that Iraq has strong geographical and historical ties with Turkey. According to him, relations between the two countries are based on mutual interests, encompassing trade, economy, and energy.
