Durov offered an alternative platform to Google and Amazon

Telegram founder Pavel Durov unveiled a new platform called Cocoon at the Blockchain Life 2025 forum in Dubai.

Cocoon is a decentralized computing network that could serve as an alternative to centralized cloud services like Google Cloud and Amazon AWS, particularly in the field of artificial intelligence.

According to Durov, modern AI services depend on centralized service providers that have access to users’ personal data, can collect it, and use it to train their models.

In Cocoon, owners of video cards will be able to rent them, and programmers will be able to use these resources for artificial intelligence tasks, paying with the Toncoin token. All calculations will be encrypted, ensuring complete data confidentiality and security.

The first major user of the network will be Telegram. Some of the messenger’s AI functions, such as processing voice messages and working with chatbots, will be performed on Cocoon’s infrastructure.

Durov said that at first they wanted to call it PAIN (Private Artificial Intelligence Network), but then he thought it would be strange to go on stage and announce, "Welcome to the world of pain." That's why they chose the name Cocoon.
