US President Donald Trump has written on social media that Christianity is facing an existential threat in Nigeria and that thousands of Christians are being killed.
“Radical Islamists are responsible for this mass slaughter. I am now declaring Nigeria a ‘Country of Particular Concern.’ When such a large-scale massacre of Christians or any other group is committed, as is happening in Nigeria, action must be taken.
The United States cannot stand idly by as such atrocities are committed in Nigeria and in so many other countries. We are ready, willing, and able to protect our large Christian populations around the world,” he wrote.
