Senior US officials are being moved to military bases for security reasons

The Atlantic reports that at least six senior Trump administration officials have been relocated to military bases around Washington in recent months to protect themselves from threats and protests.

The trouble began last month when Katie Miller, the wife of White House adviser Stephen Miller, was confronted by a woman outside her home who threatened her. This came a day after the murder of Charlie Kirk. Their neighborhood in Arlington, Virginia, had been the scene of weeks of protests, with banners calling Stephen a “Nazi.”

The situation has escalated since Kirk’s murder. Stephen Miller, one of Trump’s closest advisers and a champion of hardline immigration policies, has launched a legal attack against liberal groups.

Homeland Security Secretary Christie Noem, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, and several other high-ranking officials now live on military bases. Miller has also moved to an army base.

Such a large-scale move has never happened in previous administrations. Typically, only the Secretary of Defense or the Director of the CIA has lived on military bases. Now, with so many officials requesting housing, there are not enough houses available, creating a problem for high-ranking military personnel.

The Millers recently put their six-bedroom Arlington home on the market for $3.75 million.
