The Azerbaijani Caliber.az reports that Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev does not intend to attend the European Political Association summit in Armenia in May 2026.
"The current level of bilateral relations does not yet allow President Aliyev's visit to Yerevan to be considered an actual step. Azerbaijan proceeds from the principle of real action. A high-level visit without a signed agreement and without implementing practical mechanisms may create a false impression of the process's completion. Until the legal basis is formulated and the obligations have not begun to be fulfilled, such steps would be premature," the Azerbaijani source writes.
At the same time, the prospect of future high-level visits is not ruled out.
"On the contrary, after the signing of the peace agreement and the start of its implementation, this will become a logical continuation of the process," the publication says.
