Musk will leave Tesla if he is not paid $1 trillion

Tesla Chairman Robin Denholm has warned shareholders that if CEO Elon Musk's new $1 trillion compensation package is not approved, he could leave the company, CNBC reports.

"Without Elon, Tesla could lose significant value as we may no longer be valued based on our future goals," Denholm wrote, noting that Tesla's annual meeting is scheduled for November 6.

Online votes must be received by midnight on November 5.

Denholm stressed that Musk has a key role in shaping the company's future as Tesla seeks to transform into a broad technology company focused on developing autonomous driving systems (Full Self-Driving) and Optimus robots.

He added that Tesla is now at a "major turning point" where artificial intelligence is becoming a key strategic direction for the company.
